Winning a Pro 2 Championship in the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS) is an elite accolade in the world of short-course racing. Jerett Brooks has dreamed of achieving such aspirations since the inaugural LOORRS 2009 season. For the last ten years, Brooks moved through the ranks to become a world-class off road racer and after a hard-fought 2019 season, Jerett can say dreams do come true. Brooks raced to a Round 9 victory at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park, his 4th win of the season, and earned the Pro 2 Championship with 429 points in the Rigid Industries / Bilstein / General Tire / KMC Wheels #77, on top of that Driver Of The Year honors and most fast laps award. “Wow!!!” Jerett declared. “This has always been my dream, winning a Pro 2 Championship. It’s been a surreal season. I can’t thank my family, crew, partners and fans enough for supporting me this season!”

Ten years ago, Brooks went all in and began as an entry-level novice racing simultaneously in the JR1, JR2, and Modified Kart divisions. Gaining seat time and experience has been the key to success for so many racers, and Jerett followed that model closely over the years. When the time was appropriate, Brooks graduated to the Pro Lite class and earned his first championship in 2014. Jerett would continue the effort and captured back-to-back Pro Lite championships in 2016 & 2017. The 2019 Pro 2 title, making four championships total, is another huge milestone and adds to the Crandon Pro 2 World Championship accomplishment picked up earlier this year.

As the 2019 season wound down to the final round, the LOORRS points standings had yet to be decided. Brooks was 5 points down going into Round 9. “I am ready to burn some laps and this Bilstein / General Tire / KMC Wheels combo is going to be hard to beat,” Jerett stated. “This weekend, my mission was to pick up as many points as possible and get that win. If we do that, the title will be ours.”

All seemed to be locked in and dialed for the #77 Rigid Industries Truck as Brooks was near perfect in the two practice sessions clocking the quickest lap times. Jerett continued to run flawlessly for the qualifying session and scored the pole on Lap 3 with 39.023 Seconds and 92.253 MPH. “We were P1 again today! That is the 5th top qualifier this season. I know the truck is dialed and ready for Round 9 and the CUP race after that!”

Round 9, would start with Jerett starting back in 9th position behind eight Pro 2(M) Trucks. Brooks would check out from the regular high horsepower trucks behind and went onto climbing his way into podium position by Lap 5.

On Lap 6, Jerett would get by Ampudia & Carlson with a single maneuver to take the lead on Lap 7. Brooks would retain the top spot for the last half of the 16 lap race with not one truck getting even close. “This Rigid truck is fast,” declared Brooks. “I tore it up out there, catching the 410s right away. I didn’t mess around and passed right through. Everything is perfect and it is just kind of remarkable at how fast I can drive this thing.”

Jerett continued, “This year was a 110% effort, I gave everything I had to get this program to where it is. I am proud of my team and proud of myself as I made all the calls on the truck. Everything we did was calculated to make the truck faster. There were many situations where we could have gone one way or the other.

In the end, it was my responsibility, so to have it pay off like this with a Pro 2 championship, well, that was a pretty big deal and first for me. I am extremely grateful to Rigid Industries, Bilstein, General Tire, KMC Wheels, FK Rod Ends, Black Rhino Performance, FiberwerX, Optima Batteries, Kroyer Racing Engines, CBR Performance, Fortin Racing, Caspers Concrete, Howe Performance, Oakley, Maxima Racing Oils & Synergy Electric for all the support this year.”

Jerett Brooks will start preparing for next season with regular testing and a new motor package. The split division was immersed in controversy and the looming motor mandate is coming down in 2021, so Brooks plans to have a firm grasp on that as soon as possible. Brooks is aiming for another Pro 2 championship in 2020 and is open to extending partnerships and welcoming new potential opportunities.
